SmartLipo laser
Areas to be treated are numbed using local anesthetic, allowing the patient to relax and feel comfortable during entire procedure. Through a tiny incision of 2-3 mm, a laser tip is inserted through which the laser energy is directed toward the fat cells beneath skin surface. As the energy is fired, the fat cells break apart and liquefy. The laser fiber delivers thermal energy directly to fat cells and disrupts the fatty tissue for easy removal. The laser literally melts the fat, which is removed with gentle suction. At the same time, tissue around the area tightens through coagulation, contributing to a smoother shape overall. The laser energy also encourages the growth of new collagen, which tightens skin and improves the overall appearance of the treated area. During the initial days after the procedure, the liquefied fat continues to drain away by body’s natural process. Since incisions are minimal, no stitching is required, leaving patients with almost invisible scarring.
What to expect after the procedure:
The day after the laser liposuction SmartLipo we recommend bathing once or twice a day. You will see results the next day, but the ultimate results (after slight swelling goes away) will be visible in several days. The patient can experience some discomfort the day after procedure, which can be effectively treated with over-the-counter medication. Minor temporary bruising may occur, which typically disappears within 2 to 3 days of treatment. Depending upon the area being treated, our doctor may also prescribe the use of a compression garment to aid in healing and to minimize swelling.
Compression garments can be purchased form reputable sources, and they really help in gluing your skin back to muscles (stomach area, back, other) after the procedure. Once any initial swelling has resolved, the treated area will appear tighter and more toned. The results will continue to improve within the first 6 to 8 weeks following the procedure, as the skin readapts to new curves and outlines. Depending on the area treated, many patients are able to return to work in 24 hours.
